Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts

Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts (www.usdan.com) is the arts day camp declared a "Best Of" camp by TimeOutNY/Kids, NY Metro Parents, and Long Island Press. The 2010 season begins on June 28th at the Center's 200-acre woodland campus on Long Island. Usdan is open to young people ages 6 to 18, and no audition is required - rather, admission is based on an expression of interest in the arts. Each summer, 1,600 students travel to the Center each day on air-conditioned buses that depart from neighborhoods throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Usdan was formed to provide the arts as a companion for life through great teaching and the camaraderie of fellow students whose common bond is their love of the arts. Usdan offers more than 40 programs in Music, Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, Nature, Chess, and Writing. Although Usdan's mission is for every child to establish a skill-based relationship with the arts, the unique stimulation of the Center has caused many to go on to professional careers. The Fencers Club Summer Day Camp is a great chance for kids to combine mornings of entertaining educational activities with afternoons engaged with the exciting, fast-paced sport of modern fencing.
Creative writing: Learn to write expressively without constraints. The curriculum will be created by Bruno Navasky, a poet, teacher, author of several books and a writer for the New York Times Sunday Book Review. Math games and logical puzzle solving: Math games and puzzle solving teach fundamentals of mathematical thinking outside of a formal curriculum. The program is designed for us by a group of Harvard math/physics graduates who have extensive tutoring experience and love logical games. Chess: Learn to play chess in a program designed and supervised by Bruce Pandolfini, one of the most highly regarded chess teachers in the US (depicted in the movie Searching for Bobby Fisher). Instruction and game-play at all levels.
FENCING CLASS- Choose your weapon: Epee, Foil or Sabre- Modern fencing is a dynamic, exciting sport. Fencing teaches discipline, grace, agility and strategy. In our new state-of-the art, fully air-conditioned facility in Chelsea, students of all levels of experience will work with our famous coaches. During each magical week, campers feel like real Major Leaguers as they take the field in their very own official Phillies uniform and learn from baseball’s best. This unique, action-packed camp features top-notch instruction and demonstrations from our experienced Phillies Baseball Academy coaching staff. Each one-week camp takes place at one of our great locations throughout the summer. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. "Extra Innings," our extended day baseball training program, is available daily from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Thomas School Summer Day Camp is a small camp filled with 65 years of tradition. At TSH we facilitate children learning life long skills such as responsibility, compassion, gentle communication, teamwork and the joys of success through interactions with horses and quality staff. Boys and girls from 3 years old to 15 year olds participate in daily horseback riding lessons, horse care lessons, and a stable period for the older campers. In addition to the full horsemanship program, campers enjoy daily swim lessons, and choose from a variety of sports and arts, such as tennis, gymnastics, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, archery, dance and drama.
The unique teen program draws a great group of teens who would rather be with horses than travel every day. Often these teens have their sights on becoming a camp counselor.
Many campers make it a year round activity by continuing riding lessons throughout the school year. Horses become a way of life for these children. The camp is being directed by Nancy Thomas, who is the 2nd generation owner-director. Not only are new families joining every year, but many children and grandchildren of past campers are experiencing the joys that their parents remember.

Camp Ramaquois is tucked into the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains in Pomona, New York (Rockland County). Tall trees, rolling hills, babbling brooks, and mountain ranges surround our magnificent 44 acres and our 5 acre, crystalline spring-fed lake. We are only 30 minutes from the George Washington Bridge via the scenic Palisades Parkway and 15 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Our main goal is to provide Ramaquois campers with a healthy, happy and rewarding summer experience. Each child's camp experience plays a very important role in his/her maturation. Our campers are encouraged to experience new skills, work with their peers and counselors, develop independence and assume responsibility.

Each summer the world famous New York Film Academy Film and Acting Camps give hundreds of high school students an unforgettable and transformative experience in Filmmaking, Acting and 3-D Animation. Our high school camps are designed for students with little or no previous filmmaking, acting or animation experience. They are hands-on intensive workshops that teach all aspects of the filmmaking process - writing, shooting, directing, and editing is taught by award winning instructors.

Camp Playland of Redding, located on 36 wooded acres, is owned and operated by Richard and his wife, Barbara.
Camp Playland combines the finest staff with the most beautiful facility to provide children ages 3 to 12 with a safe, fun filled and instructional summer. DayJams was created for kids between the ages of 8-15 by the National Guitar Workshop (NGW), the nation's largest summer music program. Since 1984, NGW has been teaching musicians at overnight programs across North America. At DayJams, younger students obtain a similar experience at day camps in their own communities. Our professional staff of music teachers, art teachers, and counselors is committed to providing a safe, fun-filled week of music and creativity.

A choice that can change your child's life! Hofstra Specialty Camp offers a broad spectrum of co-ed specialty camps-with the flexibility to register for two, four, six or seven-week sessions- for children entering Kindergarten through 9th grade. Hofstra Sports Academy Camp is for campers whose interests are strictly athletic, and are supervised by Hofstra's well-known, NCAA coaching staff; train with the best! For children entering second through 12th grades, we offer sports academy camps in co-ed baseball, girls' basketball, boys' basketball, boys' lacrosse, softball, soccer, cross country, dance and cheer camps. In both camps, our goal is to assist in the development of the whole child-educationally, athletically, artistically, and socially. Hofstra Summer Camps combine the excitement of our wide-ranging curriculum with the professionalism of our distinguished and caring instructors.
Specialty campers choose one specialty each two-week session. Campers may participate in the specialty camps for two, four or six weeks. Campers spend one-half of each day participating in their area of specialization and the other half in planned recreational activities, which includes a period of instructional swim in our Olympic-sized pool. Additionally, a special end-of-the season, one-week program (Session 4) is offered for youngsters who wish to engage in a full-day camp program.
