Adventures Cross-Country (ARCC) offers 2-5 week summer programs for teenagers in over 20 countries and 5 western states that focus on community service, foreign language, multisport activities and adventure. ARCC leaders are responsible for managing group dynamics, facilitating leadership curriculum, planning logistics, practicing risk management and delivering an overall positive and fun experience. Basecamp Support Staff internships run from Mid-June to Mid-August. Deer Hill seeks motivated people to assist with major functions of the Deer Hill summer season. Program Support: packing expeditions, logistical support, driving shuttles, issuing and de-issuing and cleaning group gear. Deer Hill Expeditions seeks experienced, motivated, and caring outdoor educators to lead wilderness expeditions and service projects in the American Southwest, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. Responsibilities of Field Leaders: To ensure the safety and well-being of each participant and to lead expeditions that are fun while fostering participants' growth as individuals. Specific elements include: teaching wilderness living skills, off-trail route finding, adjusting backpacks, fixing stoves, guiding loaded rafts through rapids, facilitating fun games and activities to a group, managing a top rope site or guiding a difficult discussion of the group's dynamics. Qualifications: Previous experience leading groups in the wilderness. Experience leading and teaching rafting, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, backpacking, mountain biking, mountaineering, canyoneering and/or service projects. CPR + WFR certification.
