Position Available: Digital Media Instructor Salary Range: $1600 - $3600
Do you have a passion for and proficiency in digital media of all kinds? Can you create, excite, motivate and teach kids what you know? We are looking for someone with core skills in three areas: 1. Computer graphics i.e., Photoshop (or its equivalent) 2. Digital video, (imovie , Avid or Final Cut Pro or other) and 3. Digital audio & music (any advanced DAW such as pro tools or Logic and their related hardware) Candidates for this position should have the following skills and experience: Use of digital media of all kinds and a portfolio of images, video and sound. A sense of quick and efficient production to guide campers through a 5-day production process resulting in a short film or movie. Ability to collaborate and work with others, and strong connection to teaching and mentoring kids essential. Experience with teaching, or coaching kids in a classroom, workshop or camp setting desired. This job is a firm commitment to work for 6 weeks plus orientation. Orientation is on Saturday June 25th. This is a position for a person who will bring a deep passion and sense of mission for helping boys & girls thrive and succeed in our summer robotics camp. A successful candidate will be able to establish a critical mentoring and guiding relationship with their students to help them solve problems and overcome challenges. Candidates for this position should have: A thorough knowledge of robotics, particularly NXT 1.0 and 2.0 systems, blue tooth connections, various aftermarket sensors, the lab view software they ship with, their firmware, and creative possibilities of their construction. Experience required with advanced programming in Mindstorms software with data wires, data logging and programming the NXT brick with robot C java languages or other languages that can go in the NXT brick. Our Internship position is designed to provide students an opportunity to apply and explore knowledge, skills and attitudes developed during their academic experience. We serve youth ages 6-18; generally 25-60 students at a time. Our programs have heavy emphasis on adventure, teambuilding, and hands on social studies curriculum. The Sheridan School Mountain Campus serves private and public schools from all over the DC/MD/VA area. We serve youth ages 6-18. We're a small personal operation serving 25 to 60 students at a time, with a heavy emphasis on adventure, teambuilding and hands on social studies programming. Instructors are responsible for running a wide range of adventure, environmental, and experiential activities. Average work week runs fairly non-stop from Monday mid-morning to Friday early-afternoon, including a couple evening programs. Usually one weekend a month. May & September being incredibly busy. Must be 21 years of age or older. Previous experience working with youth and outdoor/adventure ed. experience. Solid judgment. CPR and First Aid or WFA (WFR strongly preferred). Degree in related field. Be of quality character and clean background. Able to work within a close community of instructors. Additional compensation based on experience; Eligible for a 3 season contract, Health/Dental Benefits, WFR certification course FREE after 1 season.
