Position Available: Camp K - Lifeguard/Counselor
Salary Range: $2,800 + Room and Board
  • In addition to Counselor duties, the lifeguard will work with the Waterfront Specialist to provide instruction in boating (canoe and kayak), swimming, and water survival activities on Kenai Lake. Duties include lifeguarding, maintaining program supplies and inventory, assisting with the supervision and monitoring of campers and cabins
  • Minimum age of 18; current lifeguard, wilderness first aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certifications (Wilderness First Aid certification will be offered at a low cost to employee during orientation); previous experience working in a day/resident camp or other youth development program

  • This position will provide instruction and supervision to campers during swimming and boating activities. This position will work with the Aquatics Specialist to monitor campers' skill levels and implement methods of progression and rewarding achievements
  • This position is responsible for lifeguarding or facilitating aquatics activities, locker room supervision, and pool area set up and clean up, and youth supervision during camper choice time. This position will also be required to assist the Program Director in programming activities as assigned.

Position Available: Camp K - Waterfront Specialist
Salary Range: $3,400 + Room and Board
  • This position provides oversight to the Camp K Aquatics Program, which entails instructing all lakeside activities (i.e. canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and water survival skills on Kenai Lake), lifeguarding, and supervising camp lifeguards.
  • Live on the premises of Camp K and work with camp counselors to support an assigned group of cabins for weekly sessions during the summer season. This individual will act as part of the program delivery team to provide a high-quality camp experience to program participants, parents and visitors, with outstanding customer service.
  • Minimum age 21; current Lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certifications; minimum 6 weeks previous supervisory/management experience in a cold water/ lakefront area; eligibility to drive agency vehicles.
  • Water Safety Instructor and/or Small Craft certification preferred.

Position Available: Senior Rural Program Staff
Salary Range: $4,500 + Room & Board, May 22 August 2, 2017
  • This position will create and implement youth and community based programs, form community relationships, facilitate activities, and use advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills when needed.
  • Additional duties include completing weekly check-ins with supervisors, required paperwork, and all other logistics involved in implementing program, while working productively as a member of a team.
  • Minimum age 21. Current lifeguard, first aid, and CPR/AED certification required. (A CFA on-site Lifeguard Certification course will be held May 16-19, 2017 for $150. However, space is limited, and held for extenuating circumstances.)
  • Experience working with youth for two or more years a must. BA in education, outdoor recreation, anthropology/sociology or other related field and cultural exchange experience preferred.
