JCC Camps

It can sometimes be difficult for young Jewish children to connect with their roots. A lot of important Jewish traditions go largely ignored by society and culture—for example, Hanukkah and Passover don’t get as much public attention as Christmas and Easter. That’s why Jewish Community Center (JCC) summer camps are so important. They give Jewish kids an opportunity to explore their heritage while having a great time in the process.

The Benefits of JCC Camp

At first glance, the average JCC camp looks like any other summer camp. There are both day and overnight JCC camp programs, and some have options for either one. They’re generally coed, and most have programs to accommodate children of all ages, from kindergarten through the high school years.

JCC camps feature a lot of typical camp activities, like athletics, arts and crafts, swimming and canoeing, etc. Some have drama programs and A/V facilities as well. What sets them apart from other summer camps is the focus on fostering a sense of community among Jewish youth.

JCC summer camps help give children a better understanding of what it means to be Jewish. They’ll learn about Jewish history, culture, and values alongside other Jewish kids in a safe and friendly environment. Not only will they have opportunities to engage in fun activities and develop a variety of skills, but the friendships they develop will help build self-esteem and teach them that they’re not alone.
