Girl Scout Camps

The Girl Scouts of the United States of America, founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912, has been a beloved institution and an important part of young girls’ lives for generations. The Girl Scouts organization does much more than sell cookies (although we all look forward to that every year)—it teaches young girls about leadership, team-building, cooperation, and community engagement, and it encourages the development of knowledge and skills in countless areas.

Different Girl Scout Camp Programs

There are a variety of Girl Scout camp programs available for girls of all ages and experience levels. Girl Scout day camps are perfect for girls with little outdoor experience, from kindergarten up. They’ll spend their mornings and afternoons having fun at camp before coming home every night.

If your girls are particularly independent, or you’d like to encourage them to build confidence outside their comfort zone, overnight Girl Scout camps are a better option. These programs last anywhere from 3 to 14 days. Your daughter will have extra time to build lasting friendships, plan camp activities, and become more reliant on their own skills and intuition (with help from watchful counselors, of course).

Girls with more outdoor experience will love going to a Girl Scout camp that emphasizes adventure. Scouts may travel as a group on foot, by boat, or on horseback around the campsite, getting exercise, learning resourcefulness, and developing an appreciation for nature along the way.

Similar opportunities are available for Boy Scouts, too. If your sons are Scouts as well, check out the Boy Scout camp programs available on CampPage.
