Southwoods is a four-week summer camp considered to be a community where children can grow, discover, build confidence and form lifelong friendships. We build our camp experiences around people. Southwoods is located in Paradox, New York, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Situated on pristine, spring-fed Paradox Lake, where the majestic mountains of the Adirondack Park slope to the water's edge, Southwoods offers an interactive and exciting camp program with a wonderful variety of outdoor and waterfront activities.

Thomas School of Horsemanship Summer Day Camp
Coed horsemanship day camp
Thomas School Summer Day Camp is a small camp filled with 65 years of tradition. At TSH we facilitate children learning life long skills such as responsibility, compassion, gentle communication, teamwork and the joys of success through interactions with horses and quality staff. Boys and girls from 3 years old to 15 year olds participate in daily horseback riding lessons, horse care lessons, and a stable period for the older campers. In addition to the full horsemanship program, campers enjoy daily swim lessons, and choose from a variety of sports and arts, such as tennis, gymnastics, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, archery, dance and drama.
The unique teen program draws a great group of teens who would rather be with horses than travel every day. Often these teens have their sights on becoming a camp counselor.
Many campers make it a year round activity by continuing riding lessons throughout the school year. Horses become a way of life for these children. The camp is being directed by Nancy Thomas, who is the 2nd generation owner-director. Not only are new families joining every year, but many children and grandchildren of past campers are experiencing the joys that their parents remember.

Gifted students in grades K-12 can participate in the renowned Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) program. Hosted at some of the most famous colleges and universities in the country such as Princeton University, Dartmouth College and UC Berkeley, SIG has the best well-rounded program for gifted students as it combines academics, social, cultural and recreational opportunities. Students live and learn on campus for three-weeks, leaving with the additional confidence gained by an experience that is all their own.
Because of our small classes, low teacher-student ratio, and teaching assistants, SIG is able to individualize the program for each and every student. Student safety, security and health are our top priority as SIG programs are well staffed for careful supervision. Ten day programs are available for younger students and most of our residential programs have a commuter option. Camp Northwood

Since 1976, Camp Northwood has been providing quality programming to a coed population of 150 children in need of structure and individualization. The Camp Northwood program is oriented toward a population of socially immature, isolated, non-aggressive children ranging in age from 8-18 that experience difficulties in social and academic settings due to a variety of types of learning challenges.
Activities include: Camping, Hiking, Orienteering, Swimming, Sailing, Water-skiing, Land Sports, Drama, Dance, Photography, Arts & Crafts. Also, each Northwood camper participates in a formal academic program five days per week for one hour each day.
Forrestel Farm Riding & Sports Camp

Forrestel Riding & Sport Camp is a fully accredited ACA camp, established in 1980. We offer one, two and four week co-educational sessions ages 7-16 some co-ed and some just for girls. Our historic 800- acre working farm is located 40 miles west of Rochester, NY. There are two outstanding programs: equestrian and outdoor adventure & sports. Forrestel Farm Riding & Sports Camp provides children with a safe and nurturing environment where they are inspired to succeed. In 1957 Walter Bloom started Camp Playland, "the day camp with the away camp atmosphere". Today, Walter's sons, Gary and Richard Bloom, continue the tradition of camping excellence. Gary and his wife, Barbara, own and operate the New Canaan campus of Camp Playland on 18 beautiful, wooded acres. Camp Playland of Redding, located on 36 wooded acres, is owned and operated by Richard and his wife, Barbara.
Camp Playland combines the finest staff with the most beautiful facility to provide children ages 3 to 12 with a safe, fun filled and instructional summer. Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts (www.usdan.com) is the arts day camp declared a "Best Of" camp by TimeOutNY/Kids, NY Metro Parents, and Long Island Press. The 2010 season begins on June 28th at the Center's 200-acre woodland campus on Long Island. Usdan is open to young people ages 6 to 18, and no audition is required - rather, admission is based on an expression of interest in the arts. Each summer, 1,600 students travel to the Center each day on air-conditioned buses that depart from neighborhoods throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Usdan was formed to provide the arts as a companion for life through great teaching and the camaraderie of fellow students whose common bond is their love of the arts. Usdan offers more than 40 programs in Music, Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, Nature, Chess, and Writing. When you sign up for our traditional sleepaway camp, you get to make your own schedule and choose the activities you like most! Our great activities include windsurfing/sailing, archery, arts & crafts, canoeing, rock climbing, dance, drama, in-line skating, kayaking, riflery, high and low-ropes courses, snorkeling, street hockey, swimming, voice, guitar, and of course tons of other sports options. We also have a horseback riding camp where you get your own horse for 1 or 2 weeks and other specialty camps for tennis, fine arts, sailing/windsurfing. The Fencers Club Summer Day Camp is a great chance for kids to combine mornings of entertaining educational activities with afternoons engaged with the exciting, fast-paced sport of modern fencing.
Creative writing: Learn to write expressively without constraints. The curriculum will be created by Bruno Navasky, a poet, teacher, author of several books and a writer for the New York Times Sunday Book Review. Math games and logical puzzle solving: Math games and puzzle solving teach fundamentals of mathematical thinking outside of a formal curriculum. The program is designed for us by a group of Harvard math/physics graduates who have extensive tutoring experience and love logical games. Coed Day Camp
A choice that can change your child's life! Hofstra Specialty Camp offers a broad spectrum of co-ed specialty camps-with the flexibility to register for two, four, six or seven-week sessions- for children entering Kindergarten through 9th grade. Hofstra Sports Academy Camp is for campers whose interests are strictly athletic, and are supervised by Hofstra's well-known, NCAA coaching staff; train with the best! For children entering second through 12th grades, we offer sports academy camps in co-ed baseball, girls' basketball, boys' basketball, boys' lacrosse, softball, soccer, dance and cheer camps. In both camps, our goal is to assist in the development of the whole child-educationally, athletically, artistically, and socially. Hofstra Summer Camps combine the excitement of our wide-ranging curriculum with the professionalism of our distinguished and caring instructors.
Specialty campers choose one specialty each two-week session. Campers may participate in the specialty camps for two, four or six weeks. Campers spend one-half of each day participating in their area of specialization and the other half in planned recreational activities, which includes a period of instructional swim in our Olympic-sized pool. Additionally, a special end-of-the season, one-week program (Session 4) is offered for youngsters who wish to engage in a full-day camp program.
Tuition includes transportation and lunch.

Outward Bound
Wilderness adventure programs worldwide
Outward Bound, a national nonprofit organization, offers over 500 adventure-based courses - year round - serving adults, teens and youth (ages 12+).
Course activities include rock climbing, sea kayaking, backpacking, mountaineering, sailing, dogsledding, canoeing and rafting in some of the most untouched wilderness areas across the nation. A fun day camp with a great staff that offers door to door bus transportation in the borough of Queens, New York. Where learning and fun are rolled into one. . . Now in our 32nd year, National Computer Camp is America's original computer camp since 1977. The focus at NCC is 2D and 3D video game design, computer programming, digital video production, web page design, A+ and Network+ certification and software applications including networking, animation, Flash and graphics. Each week we offer all levels of programming in Basic, C++, Java, Assembler, HTML, XML, OpenGL and JavaScript.
Campers may attend one or multi-week sessions with a continuous curriculum that is age appropriate and suitable for beginners to super advanced.
