Gwynn Valley Camp

Since 1935, a summer camp for Boys and Girls, ages 5-14. Offering a farm, wilderness and traditional program that nurtures the child while fostering a connection with the land and the simple joys of childhood. The strength of Gwynn Valley is its nurturing environment in a child centered world where each camper will learn and grow under the guidance of a mature and caring staff. We maintain a camper / staff ratio of 4:1. Our program is a non-competitive, residential camp, offering sessions of 1, 2 and 3 weeks in length. We grow 70% of our food on the farm and operate a 1890's Grist Mill as part of our varied program. We also operate a small day camp for children K-4th grade. Activities at our coed camp include: Horseback Riding, Outdoor Living Skills, Farm, Mountain Biking, Texture Crafts, Rock Climbing, Grist Mill, Waterfront, Whitewater Kayaking & Canoeing, Pioneer Crafts, Sports, Fine Arts, Web of Life, and Backpacking.

Camp Woodmont, summer camp for boys and girls 6 -14, in NW GA atop beautiful Lookout Mountain, two hours north of Atlanta and 30 min. south of Chattanooga. Traditional activities include horseback riding, archery, aquatics, high ropes, OLS, challenge course, drama/dance, arts and crafts, and much more! One and two-week sessions.

Located high atop the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwest North Carolina, YMCA Camp Cheerio is the ideal place for persons of all ages to enjoy a camping or retreat experience. Camp Cheerio offers many challenging programs, from summer resident (sleepover) and coed wilderness tripping camps, to senior adult camps, conferences and retreats, adventure programs, and outdoor education.

A Christian based adventure program located on the New River in SW Virginia. Maximum age range per group is 3 years. All trips are small groups of 8-12 participants. Our focus is on helping young people learn more about themselves, improve self-confidence, learn leadership, teamwork skills, have fun, and challenge themselves. All equipment provided.

Adventure tripping program for boys and girls ages 10-17, and families. Activities include rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, backpacking, caving, mountain biking, sailing, wind surfing and more. One week, two week, three day and ten day programs.

Play under waterfalls, track wild animals, explore mountain forests with naturalists. Green River Preserve is a 3400 acre wildlife preserve and summer camp for bright, curious, and creative children. Serving rising 2nd through 9th graders, our camp is nurturing, noncompetitive and purposefully small with enrollment limited to 104. After morning hikes, campers choose from over 20 elective activities including rock climbing, pottery, archery, fly fishing, music, art and drama. 1, 2 and 3 week sessions are available.

For rising 9th through 12 graders, we offer Green River Expeditions- two-week canoeing, backpacking and kayaking adventures which follow the Green River tradition of combining learning with exploration.

Inside Out, an experiential educational organization, offers all ages challenging outdoor learning opportunities. Experiences illustrate powerful life lessons, and encourage participants to become a dynamic part of a high functioning community group.

Curriculum, teambuilding and high adventure activities for school communities and classes. Group effectiveness, communication and adventure activities for adult groups. Travel/ Adventure expeditions for all ages, with an organized group of eight or more. STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! LEARN!

Camp Kanuga offers young people an enjoyable and stimulating experience in a Christian setting. The program enables campers to grow emotionally and spiritually while at the same time developing new interests, skills, and friendships. Affiliated with Kanuga Conference Inc., an Episcopal center in the mountains of western North Carolina. We offer strong in-camp programs in a Christian community setting for ages 7-15 and extended backpacking programs for ages 15-16.

Activities include: rock climbing, canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, environmental awareness, and more.

Holston Presbytery Camp is 152 acres of beautiful woods in the High Country of North Carolina. Within God's beautiful creation, Holston Presbytery (NE Tennessee) and Abingdon Presbytery (SW Virginia) offer a perfect setting for outdoor ministry. With Wildcat Lake, hiking trails, cool mountain weather, and the splendor or natural wonders, Holston Camp offers an inspiring outdoor environment for 8-17 year olds.

Holston Camp provides many outdoor camping experiences from: backpacking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, outdoor cooking and Dutch Oven cooking. Campers have daily activities such as: Bible study, Arts and Crafts, swimming, boating, recreation and all camp activities like Theme Day and Talent Night.

We have provided a fun and enriching experience for children for over 50 years. Our small size and 3:1 camper:staff ratio insures the individual attention needed to have a fulfilling summer. Our family farm provides exciting "chores" as an integral part of the camp day. Plenty of structure allows for healthy choices without being regimented.

Activities include crafts, wood shop, drama, nature, swimming, innertubing, horseback riding, hiking and campouts. Older children do 2-4 day backpacking trips. Camp games focus on teamwork and cooperation rather than competition.

Outward Bound, a national nonprofit organization, offers over 500 adventure-based courses - year round - serving adults, teens and youth (ages 12+). Course activities include rock climbing, sea kayaking, backpacking, mountaineering, sailing, dogsledding, canoeing and rafting in some of the most untouched wilderness areas across the nation. No matter the activity, courses focus on learning through experience, compassion, leadership and responsibility to both team and the environment. Courses range in length from 4 days to three months in length. Scholarships are available.

Our Rock Climbing Camps offer extremely small group "pro camps" with an absolute maximum group size of 8 for teens that wish to take their climbing to the next level. Our climbing camps are 6-12 days long for 13-17 year olds. We are located in Pisgah National Forest and we are the Southeast's only AMGA Accredited Summer Camp Climbing Program.

Our Camps curriculum includes; equipment, techniques and most importantly safety skills of climbing. We trad climb single and multipitch, boulder and aid climb! We are deeply rooted in the Leave No Trace, ethics of climbing and the wilderness so we cover these skills as a core component of the camp.

Academic Treks, the academic adventure division of Broadreach, offers summer programs for high school and college students that blend adventure, hands-on learning, community service, cultural immersion and international travel. The 21-33 day summer trips focus on marine biology, Spanish language and environmental science and qualify for high school and/or college credit, as well as community service credit. Program locations include the Caribbean, Hawaii, British Columbia, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras and Mexico.

In addition to hands-on research and studies, Academic Treks program activities can include SCUBA diving, sailing, rainforest treks, hiking, whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, surfing, horseback trips, home-stays and 15-50 hours of community service.

Blue Star is a sanctuary from the stresses of the "real world" where campers gain independence skills and self-esteem. Through the preceding six decades of rapid social change, Blue Star has continued to meet the essential developmental needs of children. Blue Star has been a thread consistently woven into the tapestry of the Jewish-American experience. We now welcome summer campers from thirty-five states as well as Europe, Israel, Central and South America.

Our professional instructors challenge campers to succeed in many skill areas while cabin counselors affirm that it is possible to live in peace, friendship and harmony.

Camp Broadstone is Appalachian State University's year round outdoor adventure and retreat center with a specialized summer camp for academically gifted youth. Its 55 acres of woods and meadows are located in the small community of Valle Crucis nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Programs are designed to encourage and to foster intellectual, social, and physical growth. One and two week sessions available.

Enrichment Program provides current 4th through 9th grade campers an opportunity to explore a blend of enrichment classes in science, arts, cultural and environmental studies and adventure activities in high ropes, climbing, canoeing, rafting, hiking and camping trips.

Leadership Adventure Camp: Oak Ridge Military Academy offers a Leadership Adventure Camp for rising 6th graders through rising 12th graders. Day Camp: Oak Ridge Military Academy offers a summer day camp for ages eight through eleven. This camp emphasizes adventure training, leadership training, and fun!

Mountain Adventure Guides provides 7 and 13 day coed adventure camps for ages 12-17. Program emphasis is on learning outdoor skills, making new friends and having fun. Each day campers will experience different adventure based activities, followed by camping in tents or tarps in a scenic mountain setting.

Depending on the program you choose, activities offered include whitewater rafting, backpacking, rock climbing and caving. Activities are age appropriate and include comprehensive instruction. No experience is necessary and MAG provides all major gear. Just bring a good attitude and willingness to spend time having fun outdoors trying new things!

South Mountain Christian Camp is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina. Established by Eastern Airlines pilot Captain O.A. Fish and his wife Charlotte, SMCC provides a safe, fun, exciting atmosphere while ministering to the spiritual needs of children between the ages of 7 and 15. Our low costs coupled with a financial assistance program enable us to specifically target economically disadvantaged children. Our policy is that no child is denied the opportunity to attend camp for financial reasons.

Our facilities include two lakes for fishing and boating, swimming pool, ball fields, full-size gym, game room, low and high ropes course, indoor climbing wall and giant swing, numerous hiking trails, full-service cafeteria, and air-conditioned cabins. Our program includes daily small group Bible devotionals and nightly chapel services for all ages. Additional activities include archery, crafts, and weekly campfires.

Our camping program consists of over 35 activities in five main program areas: sports, waterfront, arts, horseback riding and wilderness/outdoor experience. We are focused on teaching our campers a deep respect for nature and an increased awareness of not only themselves, but of their peers and surroundings.

The Vineyard is more than just an outstanding sports camp and conference center. It is a ministry dedicated to discipleship. From the beginning, it has been our threefold goal to share God's love, demonstrate (through the lives of our staff) holy living, and explain the challenge of discipleship. Most of our campers come from Christian backgrounds (Catholic and Protestant), but any child of any conviction is welcomed.

Prior to arriving at the camp, each camper chooses a "major". Boys go to their majors in the afternoon, girls in the morning. While boys are at majors, girls attend electives, and vice versa. The electives (two difference choices each day) are chosen at breakfast. The majors offer in-depth instruction, two hours per day, for the entire week.
