For New Orleans, the world changed forever on August 29, 2005. Five years later, the region is still reinventing itself. Now, a People to People Leadership Summit offers exceptional students a chance to give back what was lost while learning to lead.
At the Rebuilding New Orleans: Remembering Hurricane Katrina program, students age 13 years and older will speak with notable individuals like:
Task Force Katrina leader Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré
"When the Levees Broke" director Spike Lee
Authors and photographers who chronicled the disaster
Local citizens working to recover their former lives
Students will join them in rebuilding the city and will develop leadership skills while performing community service. Students will also present a donation of at least $50,000 to local charities, changing the city - and their lives - forever.
On the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, don't miss the chance to improve the future of New Orleans and the future of our students.
