Camp Killooleet

Camp Killooleet, a summer camp for children ages 9-14, is nestled into a beautiful corner of the Green Mountain National Forest. For over 90 years it has been owned and run by educators who know and listen to children. Killooleet is a "traditional camp" (varied activities, full season, hikes, and overnight trips) that goes its own way. We are non-competitive and highly individual. Camper choice is central to our programming: the schedule is flexible with free time and choice periods build into the daily plan. Strong cabin groups are built through working and playing together. With about 90 campers, Killooleet is small enough so everyone comes to know each other and friendships develop between campers of different ages who share interests. Half of our activities are in sports (waterfront, archery, softball, soccer, basketball, tennis, horseback riding, ultimate frisbee, etc.) and half in arts (music, art, ceramics, silverwork, drama, video, woodworking, stained glass, fabric). Most campers bring bikes or rent them. We explore the beauty of Vermont during weekly hikes or overnight trips, on foot, bicycle, canoe, and horseback. We strive to be a community that encourages individual development, welcomes everyone, and minimizes the need to spend energy defending ourselves.
