| Gold Arrow Camp is a traditional, resident summer camp for children on Huntington Lake in the Sierra National forest. Boys and girls, ages 6-14, enjoy rustic living and nightly campfires without the distractions of TV, computers, and telephones in a beautiful lakeside setting. Since 1933, children and adults have returned year after year because of the feeling of tradition, community, and belonging that they experience. Through participation in a structured program of over twenty non-competitive watersports and traditional activities, campers are encouraged to try new things, build their skills, and take risks. The result is improved confidence and perseverance. Our lakefront location in the high Sierras provides a wonderful setting for our traditional camp program with activities that include: wakeboarding, sailing, waterskiing, rockclimbing, horseback riding, & much more! Ages 6-14. Sessions: 1-4 weeks.Some of the activities in which campers participate include waterskiing, wakeboarding, sailing, motorboating, horseback riding, archery, riflery, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Session lengths of 1-4 weeks run June through August. Gold Arrow Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and is a member of the Western Association of Independent Camps. It is a three-week residential and day camp program that offers an opportunity for bright and mathematically gifted students to expand their mathematical horizon, improve problem solving skills, and explore areas in advanced mathematics. The Academic Curriculum is geared towards preparing students for mathematics contests, such as AMC 8/10/12, AIME, ARML, MATHCOUNTS, USAMO, and IMO. Students gain greater interest in Math, better skills in problem solving and critical thinking, and more confidence in facing academic challenges. With an outstanding performance in one or more of these contests, students will gain considerable recognitions in their college applications. The setup of the programs encourages student participation; helps improve communication and leadership skills. With the guidance of the experienced coaches, students learn how to effectively articulate their thinking processes. |
