Wilderness Awareness SchoolSince 1995, Wilderness Awareness School's Summer Camps have provided exciting nature and survival adventures for kids and teens ages 4-18. Students work together in small groups gaining nature awareness and experiential knowledge of survival skills, plants, mammals, birds, and wildlife tracking.
Through storytelling and engaging nature activities, inspiring lessons are carefully woven into each of our camps. Students' connection to the earth is nurtured, and skills are built that serve them for a lifetime!
Lasting Adventures, Inc.Throughout the summer, Lasting Adventures, guides youth ages 11-18 on memorable excursions in and around the Yosemite backcountry. While having fun, making new friends, and learning about the outdoors, these one and two week-long excursions focus on positive youth development.
Staffed by professional educators and naturalists, our mission is to use the natural environment and outdoor activities to teach youth the necessary skills and attitudes for living successful lives. Through safe risk taking opportunities, participants will be challenged to improve their sense of self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence. Along with creating lasting memories, it is our goal that participants will finish this adventure with a greater knowledge of themselves, the world, and the environment around them.
A one-of-a-kind camp program, emphasizing natural horsemanship, nature-based activities, positive peer relationships, and a warm, welcoming camp community. Small sessions, maximum of 20 campers. We emphasize the special relationship between children and horses. Campers spend many hours each day with our wonderful horses, grooming, practicing in the arena, and going on long trail rides through Ekone's 1060 acres.
When not with the horses, campers are engaged in art projects, nature explorations, swimming, ranch activities and chores. Our garden-fresh, from-scratch food is a highlight. Campers sleep in our A-frame longhouse, in tipis, under the stars, or in the hay barn!
